From September 3 to September 5, Vice President Xie Hongnian of Taiwan’s Chung Hua University was invited by Chongqing Jiaotong University to come to Chongqing to participate in the Smart China Expo 2023 and pay an exchange visit to the university.On the afternoon of September 4, at the opening ceremony of the Smart China Expo, Gong Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee of Chongqing Jiaotong University, had a cordial conversation with Vice President Xie Hongnian. Gong Hui expressed his sincere welcome and hoped for an enhanced cooperation and exchange between Chung Hua University and Chongqing Jiaotong University.
On the morning of September 5, Vice President Zhou Jianting met with Vice President Xie Hongnian in Conference Room 310 of Mingde Building.Unit principals and teacher representatives from Chongqing Jiaotong University’s Office of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan & Overseas Chinese Affairs, Student Affairs Department, Graduate School, Academic Affairs Office, Science and Technology Office, School of Smart City and other units also participated in the meeting.
Vice President Zhou Jianting delivered a speech on behalf of Chongqing Jiaotong University, introducing the basic situation of the university from aspects of development history, development status and characteristics and advantages. He also hoped to join hands with Chung Hua University to promote cooperation and exchanges, implement substantive cooperation projects, and accelerate the construction and development of the two universities. Vice President Xie Hongnian expressed his gratitude to Chongqing Jiaotong University for its warm reception, and introduced the history and philosophy of Chung Hua University, especially its characteristics in cross-professional training of talents, popularization of AI courses, and emphasis on industry-university-research cooperation. The two parties discussed their cooperation in fields of talent training, scientific research and industry-university-research, etc., and reached a broad consensus and defined specific tasks and goals for the next stage.
Vice President Zhou Jianting and Vice President Xie Hongnian also signed a framework cooperation agreement on behalf of the two universities.
Before that, Vice President Xie Hongnian also visitedthe School of Smart City of Chongqing Jiaotong University to communicate with school leaders and teachers, get to know the current education status of the school, and actively provide suggestions for the development and construction of the school.
Founded in 1990 and formerly known as Chung Hua Polytechnic Institute,Chung Hua University of Taiwancurrently ranks 30th among more than 180 universities in Taiwan and has five major colleges (School of Information and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Management, School of Architectural Design, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and School of Tourism) and a general education center. It currently has 300 full-time teachers (with 82% holding deputy senior titles or above) and about 8700 students and has established cooperation and exchange with more than 80 mainland universities, including Tongji University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Chongqing University and Zhejiang University.
